Kidney Month 2020 - 18th Family Day Celebration: Malusog na Bato sa Panahon ng Pandemya
In celebration of the Kidney Month, the Philippine Society of Nephrology, Inc. in cooperation with the Department of Health presents the 18th Family Day Celebration: Malusog na Bato sa Panahon ng Pandemya happening on June 28, 2020.
TIKTOK CONTEST
Get ready for a "Stay-home Bawal-Lumabas" Tiktok Challenge
Mechanics:
- Open to all patients on PD, HD or post KT patients.
- The Tiktok video should last for 45 seconds featuring Kim Chiu's Sa Classroom May Batas.
- Caption your full name/group name to the video with the hashtags #bawal-lumabas #pamilya-iligtas-sa-covid-iiwas.
- Must be solo or group observing social distancing.
- All entries must be endorsed by an active member of PSN. The Nephrologist should either text or email PSN for the endorsement.
- Submit TikTokVideo on or before June 15, 2020. The Top 10 will be chosen on June 15 and will be shown on the 28th of June during the Family Day Celebration.
- Winners will be announced during the show and will receive a cash prize.
- The decision of the Judges is final and irrevocable.
- All entries will become a property of the PSN and may be shown/published in any of its activities for whatever purpose it may serve.
PHOTO CONTEST

Mechanics:
- Open to all Dialysis Staff from a DOH-licensed Dialysis Unit.
- A patient beneficiary must be chosen by participating dialysis unit.
- Only one entry may be submitted and must be the participant’s own photo.
- Photos must conform with the theme: #CovidFight:DialysisUnified
- Photographs must be taken using a mobile device like smartphone or tablet in full color and landscape orientation.
- Photos must be submitted digitally in JPEG format to (psn email) on or before June 15, 2020 with the following details:
- Name of Dialysis Unit
- Name of Patient (Beneficiary)
- Name of Medical Director
- Entries must be endorsed by an active member of PSN. The Nephrologist should either text or email PSN for the

How to take care of oneself and the members of the family in times of COVID
- Open to all patients on PD, HD or post KT patients.
- The video should not exceed 45 seconds and should conform with the theme “#bawal-lumabas, #pamilya-iligtas, sa-covid-iiwas
- The Video must be taken at home and should feature the patient and a 1-3 members of the family.
- All entries must be endorsed by an active member of PSN. The Nephrologist should either text or email PSN for the endorsement.
- Submit video on or before June 15, 2020. The Top 10 will be chosen on June 15 and will be shown on the 28th of June Family Day Celebration.

HISTORY
In May 2003 President Fidel V. Ramos, by virtue of Presidential decree no.184 declared that National Kidney Month will be celebrated every month of June. Since then it was only the National Kidney and Transplant Institute that acted as the lead agency in the annual celebration. In 2003, the Board members of the Philippine Society of Nephrology decided they should also organize activities during the National Kidney Month, which included; Family day, Medical conferences for non nephrologist in cities where there were no nephrologist, tri-media interviews and lay fora to promote public awareness of Kidney Disease in the Philippines. The Family day was celebrated every first Sunday of the week, with the main objective of promoting camaraderie among physicians, patients and their caregivers. During the said celebration, the Nephrologist will not act as physician but as a person who reaches out to their patients and their caregivers and it also provided the venue for patients to meet other patients. In 2004, PAReh, an association of patients with kidney disease, their caregivers’ physicians and other entities involved in renal care was organized by PSN. The committee on Public health served as liaison between the PSN and PAReh. However through the years, only some Board members and members of Public health committee were the ones participating in the Family day celebration.
